Bean Pod

How does Bean Pod work?

Bean pods are a source of dietary fiber. Fiber might modestly lower cholesterol absorption and increase dietary fat elimination. Products containing bean pod extracts often claim to be "starch blockers." But research shows that these products do not seem to decrease the absorption of starch.

Are there safety concerns?

There is some evidence that bean pods might be safe for most adults. However, large amounts of fresh bean husks probably aren't safe. Raw husks contain chemicals that can cause stomach upset, vomiting and diarrhea.

Bean pod may lower blood sugar. If you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar closely.

Do not use bean pod if:
  • You are pregnant or breast-feeding.
  • You are scheduled for surgery in the next two weeks.
