Black walnut contains high concentrations of tannins, which can reduce inflammation and body fluids such as mucous.

Are there safety concerns?

Black walnut might be safe for most people when used short-term. It is not known what the potential side effects from short-term use might be.

Black walnut might be unsafe for long-term use. It contains a chemical which might cause tongue or lip cancer.

Do not take black walnut if:
  • You are pregnant or breast feeding.
