I am a 50 year old female and I've suffered from canker sores all of my life. They became very frequent over the past two years to the point where there was rarely a time when my whole mouth wasn't broken out in sores. I noticed that I had a huge break out after I had eaten walnuts and almonds. I have always eaten peanut butter as well. I stopped eating nuts and have had almost no sores except for two small mild ones in the past two months. I recommend that if you are eating nuts including peanut butter or peanuts, give them up for a month and see how you do.

Debacterol works, but you have to be very careful with it. It is sulfuric acid and is incredibly painful. This is a last resort for me if I need a sore GONE quickly. What really works are Quantum Canker Covers, put on the sore at night (but put wax on your teeth because it will make your teeth very sensitive in that area). Also, Oral-B's canker sore mouthwash with hydrogen peroxide is wonderful. Use it several times a day and it really helps heal well. I have bigger, longer-lasting canker sores, so i've tried almost everything in the book. Drinking milk and eating yogurt helps, along with brushing teeth regularly. Good luck.

I have had cankers sores all my life but now they are gone. My doctor asked me if I ate lots of chocolate and I told him I ate lots of chocolate. I went cold turkey on the chocolate 5 years ago and have only had a couple of canker sores since I stopped eating chocolate.

I've been taking coconut oil daily for my thyroid just to see if it would help my thyroid (I have Hashimoto). I've noticed when my thyroid goes haywires I often get a canker sore or two right before. Anyway this is the first time I've been taking it while having a canker sore and it healed in two days. Usually mine lasts for at least a week or more. When I read up on coconut oil it says it contains Lauric Acid which helps the immune system. I am certain it's what shortened the healing time. It's also done wonderful things for my skin by moisturizing form the inside out because Hashimoto makes my skin very dry and itchy to the point I get an eczema like rash that won't go away. It hasn't happened this time and my skin looks and feels so smooth and silky. As for my thyroid, I don't know if it's done anything. I am also on meds for it, so I can't tell if it's helping the meds or doing nothing.

My mother told me they were caused by eating too many sweets! LOL.

I've suffered with oral cankers forever. I recently found The Canker Spanker online and it was a God send. It is a little pill you take once a day to prevent canker breakouts and twice a day for a breakout. The painful cankers are gone really fast.

The best thing that I have found is Canker Cover. It will usually heal the sore in about 24 hours. Found it at Walgreens.

The best canker sore remedy ever is whole cloves. Put a whole clove in your mouth and leave it near the sore for at least twenty minutes to an hour. Careful, though! Parts of the clove are kind of sharp. The sore will be completely gone in 24 hours, I guarantee it. I don't know the science behind this but I know it works!

I only started to get canker sores a few years ago. But over the last month or so have had at least 6 or 7. I find Dequadin (liquid) works well. It's made to heal infections of the mouth. My dad gave me a bottle he got at the drug store. I either put some of that or just salt onto a Q-tip and apply directly. It may sting for a couple seconds, especially the salt, but in a day or two of treatment (3-4 times/day), they are gone. Now I just have to work on prevention. Hope this helps you out.

The best thing I ever did to help prevent the canker sores is to change my toothpaste -- one that does not have the foaming agent. I switched to Biotene toothpaste and know have about 80% less sores than I used to. Though right now I have one on the underwebbing of my tongue! Ouch!

Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori) Overview

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a type of bacteria responsible for widespread infection with more than 50% of the world's population infected, even though 80% of those infected have no symptoms. H. pylori infection is associated with low grade inflammation of the stomach and duodenum (the first part of the small intestine that empties the stomach).

The bacteria has evolved to survive in the acidic environment of the stomach where enzymes digest food. The H. pylori bacteria burrow into the cells of the stomach lining and cause low grade inflammation. H. pylori is the most common cause of gastric ulcers and gastritis (gastro=stomach +itis=inflammation). Ten percent of those infected may develop an ulcer. Also, those infected have an increased risk of stomach cancer and lymphoma.

Interestingly, the presence of the bacteria may decrease the prevalence of ...
