How does Catechu work?

It is thought that catechu may contain chemicals that can decrease inflammation and kill bacteria.

Are there safety concerns?

Catechu is safe in amounts found in food, but there's not enough information to know if it's safe in amounts used as medicine.

Do not take catechu if:
  • You are pregnant or breast-feeding.
  • You have low blood pressure (hypotension).
  • You are scheduled for surgery in the next two weeks.
