I am a 42-year-old male who owns a stressful business. In the past three years, due to my business going under, I stressed a lot. I have been getting cold sores about six to seven times a year, especially during winter. I have tried all the name brand staff and nothing has worked for me. I read once an article online that people in Europe use liquid Benzocaine like Anbesol and take a few tabs of ibuprofen. Since 2012, I have gotten them about five times, and right away, I use the oral liquid and take the ibuprofen. This method works the best for me. It stops them in their tracks with zero healing time! Try it and it'll work for you. Now I'm all smiles.

I am 47 and get recurring cold sores. Someone once told me to put ice on it and keep it on there for a minute or two, long enough to freeze the nerves. So, of course I tried it. Sure enough it stops it right in his tracks. I was so amazed. So when I get a cold sore now I just put ice on it. I don't buy $30 medications.

To my recollection I have never had cold sores before. I have an ongoing treatment for Anemia and yesterday night I had a tingling sensation on my lip that started around 2 am. Two hours later, I was broken out in hives on the top of my lip, and there are clusters of sores inside my lip. My chin is still tingling and I am in a lot of pain. I work at a natural food store, so i was trying a remedy called Borax 30C. It only helped a little. Aspirin and lip balm seem to work best.

I have been getting cold sores for 20 years. I hate them, they're so awful. The latest and so far the greatest treatment is valtrex and bactine. I used to spend tons of money on cold sore meds and then my husband and I noticed that bactine had the same exact stuff in it as those expensive cold sore meds! So my doctor gave me a two day treatment of valtrex and I sprayed bactine on it several times a day and put a little circle Band-Aid on it (it was on my lower lip) and it healed faster than ever before. It was a scab for two days versus 8 to 14 days. It was a red mark, but it was way better than the blisters and scabs for two weeks! I wore the little Band-Aid for two days. It's not a cure, but it was better than usual. I don't think there's a cure, sadly.

I got my first cold sore at 11 after a very stressful situation. It didn't reappear until two years later and after that I kept getting them every so often. After I turned 15 I started getting them on an almost monthly basis. I tried Abreva, L-lysine on a daily basis, over-the-counter-pills, and started doing things like yoga to keep my stress levels as low as possible. It wasn't after a while that I noticed that the blister (cold sore) would usually pop out right before or after my period. I started to think that perhaps it wasn't just the stress, but my hormones. And as a matter of fact it was. Early last year I started using contraceptives, which stabilized my hormone levels, and now I am happy to report that I haven't had a cold-sore problem since then. I know it's not something that most people would consider when they suffer from cold-sores, but it might be something to check out.

I am 13 years old and a cold sore has been an unwanted yearly visitor ever since i was eight. My cold sores appear on my nose in a cluster of blisters. My nose is often red year round as a result. I treat my cold sores with immediate action whenever I feel a tingle or an itch. Sometimes, this does not work out, and I am forced to go to school with a horrible blister on my nose.

I'm 44 years old and got my first cold sore last year on the side of my nose. I didn't know what it was and initially thought it was a pimple. I was really sore and itchy. I now have my second one and it is in the same area of my nose, but actually seems worse this time. It has developed following a couple of weeks sleep deprivation, stress and now my period. I am using Vectavir Cold Sore Cream applied every two hours. I'm not looking forward to getting more of these hideous painful things.

I'm 63 and have had them since I was 12. They usually broke out when mother nature showed up monthly. Since menopause they break out about every three months. I started using ice and if I catch them at the first tingle I can keep them from breaking out. It takes patience to keep the ice on it. I takes about 15 minutes but it is worth the cure.
