The worst part of the whole thing? Fasting for two days with nothing but CalMag and other liquids. The doctor told me it would take about 20 minutes and he would talk to me in an hour. Know what? It did and he did! The best part? He found a couple of polyps, removed them, cauterized the site, and told me I was good until my next "oil change" in another five years. I was apprehensive after hearing all the negative and horrifying stories but the reminder of my father dying of colon cancer within one year of diagnosis pushed me to have it done and I do not regret it for a second. I felt nothing "I saw nothing; I heard nothing" and went home with a relieved mind. I recommend it to anyone who has had relatives diagnosed with colon cancer. Do not let negatives dictate your approach to good health. Published: October 29 ::

I told the doc doing my colonoscopy that I was allergic to the Versed and she gave it to me anyway. This colonoscopy was the most painful, degrading and potentially life-threatening event of my life. I would NEVER recommend colonoscopy to my worst enemy; additionally, my neighbor (a nurse) just got one and she got the versed/fentanyl and she screamed her head off. They just laughed and said "she won't remember a thing" well, she did and now she's a basket case. Get a virtual, not a regular colonoscopy and if you have polyps, get real anesthesia and have it done in the OR. This is not a drive-thru procedure. Published: August 27 ::

I had it done on Friday. The doctor explained the whole procedure. I went because my mom died at age 52 from colon cancer and I was only a little girl when she died. I just wanted to keep focused on the chances of me getting it. He was very kind and the procedure after drinking the nullify was great it was over quickly he talked to me and told me what he was doing. Published: August 27 ::

As a colon cancer patient in remission for 20 years I can honestly tell you that it is NOT a bad experience. If it is your first time, yes, it is scary. Don't worry the test is over before you know it. The only thing I do not like about the test is the drink to clear your colon. I have found that diluting with Crystal Light helps. Also slice lemons and suck after taking each glass. The drink does not bother many people. My youngest son had it done (40 yrs old) and he did not have a problem with the drink or test. Take yourself to a happy place and be positive. This is not a bad experience. Published: October 28 ::

DON'T DO IT!!,,The ''procedure'' STARTS with a doctor who is quite happy to LIE to you-(NOT a great basis for Doctor patient trust)as you WILL be told that this procedure cannot be done under a full anesthetic as this will increase the risk of the doctor accidentally puncturing your bowel. However, he will happily continue to poke the equivalent of 5ft of garden hose up your rectum whilst you are in a ''vegetative state' and won't remember most of it (allegedly). His argument being that 'you can tell the staff when you're in pain.' This massive contradiction should ring alarm bells, as in this anesthetized state (the hospital’s words) when, exactly, is one supposed to yell, “STOP!”? Published: October 19 ::
