What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone ()?

You should not use aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone if you are allergic to it.

Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to take this medicine if you have:

  • kidney disease; or
  • if you are on a low-magnesium diet.

It is not known whether aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone will harm an unborn baby. Do not use aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone without medical advice if you are pregnant.

Do not use this medication without medical advice if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Do not give this medicine to a child younger than 12 years old without medical advice.

How should I take aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone ()?

Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

The aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone chewable tablet must be chewed before you swallow it.

Shake the liquid form of this medicine well just before you measure a dose. Measure the liquid with a special dose measuring spoon or medicine cup, not with a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.

An antacid is usually taken only for a short time until your symptoms clear up. Do not take aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone for longer than 2 weeks in a row without medical advice. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse while using aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not allow the liquid form of this medicine to freeze.
