What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking SAMe (Natrol SAMe)?
You should not use this product if you are allergic to s-adenosylmethionine.
Do not use SAMe if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as furazolidone (Furoxone), isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam, Zelapar), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) in the last 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur, leading to serious side effects.
Before using SAMe, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare provider. You may not be able to use SAMe if you have certain medical conditions, such as:

Do not use this product without medical advice if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Do not give any herbal/health supplement to a child without medical advice.
How should I take SAMe (Natrol SAMe)?
When considering the use of herbal supplements, seek the advice of your doctor. You may also consider consulting a practitioner who is trained in the use of herbal/health supplements.
If you choose to use SAMe, use it as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare provider. Do not use more of this product than is recommended on the label.
If you need surgery, tell the surgeon ahead of time that you are using SAMe. You may need to stop using the medicine for a short time.
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
