Eye Protection for Work and SportsTopic OverviewMany types of protective eyewear are available. Lenses in the eyewear come in a variety of thicknesses. The thickness of lenses you need to wear depend on your activities and any eye conditions you have. The lenses in these glasses or goggles should be made from polycarbonate. These lenses can be prescription or nonprescription. Safety goggles may be worn over regular eyeglasses. Face shield and helmet combinations are available that can be used in contact sports. People with only one functional eye should wear sports eye protectors under their sport face mask (such as a football helmet) for added protection. Related InformationCredits
