I have had erectile dysfunction since I had a Foley catheter during a heart attack in 2007. I was 49 and my wife and I enjoyed sex at least three to four times a week before the heart attack. When the nurse inserted it she forced it through prostate, and instantly I had severe bladder spasms that were so painful I thought I would pass out. Then when removal took place the same nurse did NOT deflate the catheter but just yanked it out. I had some bleeding but continued pain. Now in 2012 I cannot urinate without bladder spasms. And I have erectile dysfunction. Related Reading: erectile dysfunction | Foley catheter | heart attack

I had a cardiac ablation. Since it was a long procedure, they inserted a Foley catheter. After about eight to nine hours it was removed. It hurt during removal. About four hours later I started to pass a lot of blood from my penis for four hours plus. It has been four days now and I am still passing blood daily. When I urinate it burns and it is extremely painful and I have spasms in my urethra. Related Reading: burns

I had my prostate removed robotically Valentine's day. I have a Foley catheter and am having a little urine leakage from the penis around the tubing, especially when I strain from having a bowel movement.

I had a prostate biopsy and four hours later I couldn't urinate. The RN inserted a Foley which I will have for five days. I was prescribed Flomax and Cipro. The Foley will be removed and my ability to urinate will be assessed. Wish me luck!

Had ovaries removed; doctor cut bladder during surgery; have to wear catheter for 14 days; presently on my third day---wondering if the catheter will ever stop hurting; if I bump the bag, I feel pain in my bladder area; have pains when I sit in a chair also where catheter enters; This hurts worse than the surgery incision area. Also, I have been having bladder spasms.

I started using a Foley catheter after developing a neurogenic bladder. It has been almost two years now and I have been able to live a more or less normal life. Without it I would be continuously wetting my pants. It has been a lifesaver for me.

I had an ovary removed, and multiple adhesions from endometriosis. The Foley catheter will be in for another six days, or 10 days total giving the stitches time to heal. The bag may be a drag, but thankfully I didn't have cancer. Related Reading: adhesions | endometriosis

I had retention of Urine. Catheterization was done in my local hospital as I had not urinated in two days - which was dangerous and beginning to affect my kidneys. There is some discomfort (from the insertion of the Catheter and hopefully this will settle down) and I hope this will pass. In the short term, I will be on this catheter for at least two weeks - possibly longer, the pack they sent me through the post was for three weeks supply. I have benign hyperplasia of the prostate and I am sixty-nine. Must Read Articles Related to Foley Catheter
