Medication Uses | How To Use | Side Effects | Precautions | Drug Interactions | Overdose | Notes | Missed Dose | Storage
USES: This medication is used to treat conditions of the sinuses or nose, including infection, congestion and post-surgery care. Also, this product is used to reduce the spread of certain bacteria (staph).
HOW TO USE: Generally, use 2 sprays in each nostril every 4 hours (maximum of 6 times per day) or as directed. If used to reduce staph bacteria in the nose, the dose generally is 2 sprays in each nostril twice daily. After about 3-5 days of use, this product may cause rebound congestion, a condition in which nasal congestion reoccurs after stopping the treatments. Follow all instructions carefully. Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nasal burning, stinging, dryness or sneezing may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Very unlikely but report promptly: a fast or irregular heartbeat, headache, dizziness, trouble sleeping, nervousness, blurred vision, drowsiness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using this drug, tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies (especially drug allergies), narrow angle glaucoma, certain nasal conditions (rhinitis sicca), high blood pressure, high thyroid function, severe diabetes, heart disease. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Limit alcohol intake, as it may aggravate drug side effects. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness (e.g., driving), since this drug may cause drowsiness. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Drugs in this product may be excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. This drug is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.
