Guillain-Barre Syndrome Topic Guide
Guillain-Barre Syndrome: Guillain-Barre syndrome is a disorder of the nervous system in which the myelin sheath that insulates nerves deteriorates, causing loss of sensation and muscle weakness. The cause of the disease, also called polyneuropathy, is unknown. Doctors theorize it is an autoimmune disorder, however. Treatment includes supportive care and plasmapheresis.
