I took some advice and cut a lime wedge as I didn't have a lemon. I cut a wedge covered it with sugar bit into it and sucked the sugar out. AND IT WORKED!

I seem to get hiccups every day. Sometimes they just start without warning. I've gone quite a while before without getting them. My doctor seems to think it's stress related. Related Reading: stress

About 2 months ago I underwent endoscopy and colonoscopy. I don't know if there is any connection, but since then, I've had several short periods of hiccups every day. Sometimes they just happen; other times they happen immediately after I eat anything. They are not painful or severe; just annoying. My concern is: Are they a symptom of some disorder? My gastroenterologist told me he stretched my esophagus during the endoscopy. Related Reading: endoscopy | colonoscopy

I have stumbled upon a cure for hiccups that has had a 100% success rate for me. It really is a variation of drinking a glass of water quickly. I found that I could never drink enough water or drink long enough without getting overwhelmed or have success. I found that it is not the water or the amount it is the act. So I decided to use a water bottle. I found that just by sipping and swallowing continuously for as long as I could the hiccups went away every time. Good Luck.

I have had hiccups now for 2-days on and off. Every time I cough, laugh, talk loud, or eat. I get them back. I wake up in the night from and with them. I tried holding my breath, drinking water slow and fast, taking antacids, eating raw ginger, and tablespoon of sugar.Nothing works.

My hiccups are not food or drink related at all. I could be just sitting or laying and BOOM, hiccups. It's usually a brief episode, but hiccups nonetheless. Deep breaths to expand the diaphragm works for me.

I do not have chronic hiccups I was just wondering why when I start to eat or drink I get one big hiccup that really hurts from my neck to the top portion of my chest. It is so painful that it is difficult to catch my breath at first. Then afterwards my chest hurts for hours...I finally took Tylenol and that helped for a short time.

I get hiccups sometimes several times a day. I usually take my breath in as far as I can, plug my nose and inhale one more "inch". Holding the breath through what would have been 1 or 2 hiccups. This almost always works for me, but I plan on trying the tongue pull next time.
