I had swelling, redness, and pain. I am under the care of a doctor. I'm having surgery soon, but I'm not looking forward to the pain.

I had an operation to remove part of the nail as my nail had grown into the skin on my right big toe. It has grown a lot but is starting to grow into the skin again.

When I have an ingrown toe nail, I simply cut a v notch in the center of the nail where I normally trim the nail back. The relief is instantaneous. So far it has worked every time. It naturally pulls the nail away from the skin on both sides as the nail tries to grow to close the V.

I experienced the classic symptoms of an infected ingrown toenail such as redness, throbbing pain and swelling. The Podiatrist removed the entire long, jagged ingrown nail then drained the pus and applied an antibiotic. After the infection is resolved she will cauterize the point where the nail grows so there will be no further nail growth for the ingrown nail. In the meantime I will continue to soak my toe in Epsom salts.

My nail salon cut the nail too short. Now when it grows even slightly the skin surrounding it gets swollen and painful. I don't want to remove all but a 1/2 inch down the center of the normal nail. This is what the podiatrist suggested.
