USES: This product contains the bacteria, Lactobacillus acidophilus, which is naturally found in the stomach/intestines. Sometimes antibiotics can disrupt the normal balance of bacteria in the stomach/intestines which causes diarrhea. This product is used for diarrhea due to antibiotic use and can help restore the normal balance of intestinal bacteria. It has also been used for vaginal and urinary tract infections. Some diet supplement products have been found to contain possibly harmful impurities/additives. Check with your pharmacist for more details regarding the particular brand you use. The FDA has not reviewed this product for safety or effectiveness. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
HOW TO USE: Take this product by mouth with milk, fruit juice, or water. Refer to the label directions for your specific product to see if the dose should be swallowed whole, chewed, sprinkled onto food or mixed with liquid. If you have questions about any of the information, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If you are using this product for diarrhea due to antibiotics, do not use for more than 2 days or if you have a high fever unless directed by your doctor. Do not use in children younger than 3 years of age unless directed by your doctor. If your condition persists or worsens or you think you may have a serious medical problem, seek immediate medical attention.
SIDE EFFECTS: An increase in stomach gas may occur, but usually goes away with continued treatment. If this effect persists or worsens, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. An allergic reaction to this product is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: This product should not be used if you have the following medical conditions: allergies to milk/lactose products. Before using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: diarrhea lasting more than 2 days (especially if you also have a high fever), other stomach problems, recurring vaginal infections, recurring urinary tract infections, any allergies. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding before using this product.

Important Safety Information
- KAPIDEX may not be right for everyone. You should not take KAPIDEX if you are allergic to KAPIDEX or any of its ingredients. Severe allergic reactions have been reported.
- Symptom relief does not rule out other serious stomach conditions.
- The most common side effects of KAPIDEX were diarrhea (4.8%), stomach pain (4.0%), nausea (2.9%), common cold (1.9%), vomiting (1.6%), and gas (1.6%). KAPIDEX and certain other medicines can affect each other. Before taking KAPIDEX, tell your doctor if you are taking ampicillin, atazanavir, digoxin, iron, ketoconazole, or tacrolimus. If you are taking KAPIDEX with warfarin, you may need to be monitored because serious risks could occur.
Uses of KAPIDEX
- Persistent heartburn two or more days a week, despite treatment and diet changes, could be acid reflux disease (ARD). Prescription KAPIDEX capsules are used in adults to treat heartburn related to ARD, to heal acid-related damage to the lining of the esophagus (called erosive esophagitis or EE), and to stop EE from coming back. Individual results may vary. Most damage (erosions) heals in 4–8 weeks.
