I have CLL, and fought multiple sore throats and upper respiratory infections for about 5 years. Double doses of antibiotics never touched my problems. I was constantly fatigued and then developed pain in my upper left abdomen. Went through CT scans, ultra sounds, and throat exams. Finally a doctor did an extensive blood work panel and discovered it.

My sister kept going to the doc with a rash. This went on for three years, and was told it was a non-descript dermatitis, and was treated unsuccessfully with various creams, etc. The last six months she started feeling extremely fatigued and having severe dizziness. When finally discovered she was severely anemic, she was admitted to the hospital. After various testing, she was discovered to have AML and died 19 days after having been diagnosed.

My sister, 63, just diagnosed with leukemia after blood test revealed extremely low red cell count. She had been very fit although she had smoked most of her life. Her symptoms began with feeling tired and unable to walk for more than a few metres before feeling faint. At night in bed her heart would palpitate wildly. She thought it was because she had finally given up smoking and was in withdrawal. Upon her doctor seeing her blood test results she was sent straight to hospital and was told she would need to be there for 3 months. Had she brushed off her symptoms as nicotine withdrawal she would have died. She had 2 blood transfusions on admittance and next day a bone marrow biopsy. It will be 3 weeks before a complete diagnosis is made.

My leukemia symptoms were an elevated white blood count, dry mouth, dry skin and I was always tired and sluggish.

In February, my son, (34 years old, a father of two) was diagnosed leukemia. He is a robust person and athletic. We almost can't believe that was it. For about a month he was feeling weak and looked pale. His bones were painful so he had his blood examined by a hematologist and immediately he was confined to a hospital and bone marrow was taken. After 3 weeks the results are in confirming leukemia.

The symptoms and signs I experienced were very subtle, and looking back, I had several of the symptoms; I just didn't put them all together. The symptom that finally caused me to go to the emergency room was serious swelling in my lower legs/ankles/feet after buying new shoes. This swelling was due to was due to the lack of oxygen (red blood cells) in my body. I also had bruising, major petechiae on the back of my hands, and I was pale in color.

I am 39 years old. I was diagnosed with lymphoma on July 29, 2009. I was also pregnant at the time. My symptoms were fatigue, cough, bruising, weight loss, headaches, pain in my left side, feeling full after just a few bites of food and somewhat was feeling like I couldn't concentrate. The bruising had been going on for about 2-3 years the rest happened within about 6 to 8 months. After blood tests we discovered that all my blood counts were extremely low. I didn't start any initial treatment due to pregnancy, but at about 5 months pregnant I was started on Interferon due to increasing pain in my left side. I stopped the Interferon in November due to some side effects. I delivered with no problems on December 29th and now I'm having blood drawn monthly to monitor. It's now been 3 months since chemotherapy. I am noticing a lot of bruising again and the cough has been back for about 3 weeks. Also a new symptom that I never had before edema in the feet and in the eyelids. I'm hoping that is unrelated. Due for a blood draw again, then go back in to see my oncologist in July. Here's to hoping for the best!!!

My four-year-old nephew has got a fever and a lump on his neck. Within three days, his illness was diagnosed as acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He is under medical supervision now.
