My daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia (AML). She is 17 years old and is responding well to the treatment. She starts her 4th round of chemo and will be finished totally by the end of February. Anyone reading this who is experiencing this life-changing disease, know that the medication works and you can get through it.

My son is 22 years old and has leukemia. He was told of this condition on November 16, 2009. His signs were coughing blood and fever. He also slept quite a bit and he never had any energy. Also, he was black and blue all over his body. He is now on chemotherapy treatments and his cancer cells have gone from 44% to 1%. We are very happy to see that the chemotherapy is working. My best friend's husband has just been diagnosed with the rare lympho/luekemia cancer. They are now doing a bone marrow test to see if it's gone into that area. It all started with a sciatic nerve problem- given steroids, antibiotics- which he had a negative reaction to. They've just taken him to another hospital to start intensive chemo treatments for 10 days straight. I obviously know how serious this is- but looking for a little hope so that I can help my best friends. Related Reading: steroids

My husband is 50 years old and has been diagnosed with Leukemia (AML). He went to the hospital emergency room with a severe cough and chest pains. He was released after being admitted for a night after a blood test found a low white blood cell count and irregular platelets. Since then, he's been feeling great. He's on an antibiotic and doing fine. His blood tests are coming back with no change, still at half count. It sure does suck that he feels great and has to go to chemo for a month and be made sick to get well. We don't even know what caused this, so we are still in denial.
