I have a brother who had leukemia 3-4 years back. He was then back to work for few months. They have asked him to leave. He never was sick before until this sickness. This guy was the most punctual man on his job. He worked there for more than 10 years. What I am saying is how Leukemia is so bad. It makes a healthiest human body the sickest. When my brother talks, I can see, he also tries to pronounce right. His speech has changed as well. He is very depressed. He has no jobs n no much income. There is no consideration from the US Govt where he worked. No financial help for all those years of service!!! This depression might cause again the cancer. This is what I am worried about.

My 53 yr old husband was very ill with a bad cold in Feb and had a blood test done during a physical and it came back that he had leukemia. He was tired but we thought it was from the bad cold he couldn't shake. He seems fine now, only a pain in his left shoulder/back. Nothing makes it go away to let him sleep. He just had a blood test done this morn, 3 month test and it came back a little elevated. Still under 25. So it's very hard not to cry or wonder what life has in store for us at his age with this happening to him. He has worked in the trucking industry since college, just wondering if anyone else in that field has been diagnosed and if it could be related to working in oil and products connected to the that kind of trade. Mechanics, maintenance of fleets.

My son was diagnosed with ALL BCR-ABL Positive on August 20, 2010. Prior to diagnosis he was just tired and said he felt dizzy if he walked around a lot. The end of July he suffered a severe sunburn only on his shoulders that blistered, I took him and they laughed at me and said the blisters would go away on their own only a second degree burn. A week later he complained of ear pain and had lumps on his neck around the ear that hurt. I took him in and saw the Doctor's Assistant who gave him an antibiotic which helped the ear pain. He did not seem physically better so I made another appointment and insisted on his normal DR. He took a blood test, called the nearest Children's Hospital and sent us on our way that very same day August 19th. My son is 15, not the normal age to have this disease. He has gone through chemo and is on his 2nd round. He is in Protocol that offers a new drug called Dasatinib which supresses the Philadelphia Chromosome and appears to be working. His last spinal and blood work came back extremly good. We are praying for a positve outcome.

I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia 12/09, my doctor is very surprised that I am still here. My family doctor found my blood counts to be low and sent me to oncologist, I am 69 and have heart and lung disease it's hard to treat leukemia. Does anyone know of any treatment that would help besides transplant I don't think I am strong enough for that. Just now starting to have a lot of pain around kidney area. My father was diagnosed with leukemia within a week of his 67th birthday. He had been having a pain in his left leg for 20 days before that. There were no other symptoms. The next day after his birthday, he started developing a fever. This went on for another four days. He experienced fatigue and weakness as well. When the fever wouldn't subside, his doctor asked him to undergo a blood test. There were small red and purple spots on his thighs. He was immediately hospitalized. He passed away the next night, but I'm glad he passed away peacefully without much pain or suffering.

My symptoms were extreme fatigue. Also, I had terrible, horrible, awful headaches. Another thing was my blood wasn't clotting. During menstruation, I bled quadruple the amount I normally had. Additionally, I had bruising, like, tiny little dot bruises, looked like a rash, all over my legs, arms and then started spreading even to my face. The only other thing I experienced was that one of my eyes experienced almost a loss of vision. I was getting very large prisms floating around. The day I was diagnosed my white cells were almost 200,000 when normal is 10 thousand.

I am a 52-year-old male. I had a bone marrow transplant march 2009 for AML. Now the AML is back in my sinuses.
