I was in the operating room waiting for my cataract surgery to begin when I freaked out. They decided to put me completely to sleep. They did some extra blood work and found that my potassium was low, and my surgery was canceled.

Low potassium was discovered through a routine blood workup. I did not fast before this and I am curious as to whether this played a part in it.

I had bloodwork due to a surgical procedure coming up to remove a lipoma. I was told my level was 3.3. Haven't had any bowel troubles at all. I have taken Dyazide for many years for my low potassium and was also told to eat more bananas. Must Read Articles Related to Low Potassium

I had bariatric surgery. During surgery I was given potassium by IV. Two days after surgery I was still low and given another IV. Now nearly 8 weeks after surgery my blood work shows my potassium levels are still low. Now I am on oral medication.
