The cause of my nail injury was basketball. While I was playing, a girl stepped on my foot and since then my nail has been falling off every three months.

I drove a philips head screwdriver through my thumb nail and ripped the bottom of the nail off. Now I have "meat" squishing up through the opening and it looks like its about to pop. All bleeding has stopped, unless I bang it into things (which I do all the time). Related Reading: bleeding Must Read Articles Related to Nail Injuries

My pinky fingernail began to lift from the skin starting at tip of the nail. It is slowly moving to the nail bed. This has occurred over a 4 week period and is now lifted about halfway between the tip and the bed. I never bruised it, hit it or injured it. Neither the nail nor skin under the nail is discolored in any way.
