My son is 8 years old and he has been diagnosed with ONLY Nail Psoriasis by three different doctors. He has no family history of Psoriasis on either side of his family. One Dr. from Houston said it was the worst case he's seen on a child but since he is a child, the treatments are too strong for his body to handle. He is a perfectly healthy boy aside from the nail psoriasis. We are at a loss of what to do next. It is starting to negatively impact him in school. Kids his age don't understand that they can't contract what he has. It hasn't gotten better in the last three years, only worse. It is now on identical fingers and toes but not at all on his skin. The dermatologist recently prescribed Urea for him. His nails have fallen off but not entirely they're still in the "crumbling" stage. All I can do is take him to another Dr. and hope he has a different treatment for him. I really hope a cure is found for this. Related Reading: Nail Psoriasis | Psoriasis

I have had finger and toe nail psoriasis for about a year now. Nothing has helped including steroids and methotrexate. One of my large toenails stopped growing out three months ago. Related Reading: steroids | methotrexate

Listen to me please. I am a healthy 53 year old male. I have had psoriasis of the nails for almost 30, yes 30 years. For many years the doctors were treating it as a fungus. It wasn't until I was doing some research and read about and saw pictures of nail psoriasis that I realized it was NOT a fungus. I have been taking a pill called "quick relief psoriasis and eczema treatment" This stuff is returning my nails to normal! It works! I have been taking them for about 2 months now. It will take a few weeks to see results so don't give in. I ordered the pill online they cost about $88.00 for a 3 month supply. I just ordered another bottle this morning. I know what it's like living with embarrassing disorder and I hope I can help others. Related Reading: eczema

I've had nail psoriasis for 5 years now. My dermatologist has tried everything, including Accutane. Now I'm taking methotrexate 20mg, with thus far (after 3 months) no results yet. It's very frustrating!!

Thickening of the nails - it is very painful on my toes especially the big ones and I have to see a chiropodist regularly as the nails grow inwards and I can't wear certain types of close fitting shoes. It is so embarrassing in the summer so I file them myself and keep them as short as possible and paint them. I am in so much pain at times! My fingernails get the telltale blood splinters and yellow/whitish discoloration, which I also find embarrassing as it looks like fungal nail infection! I am going to see my GP and find out if I can get a topical steroid to help. Also I have a skin patch on my leg which is painful and inflamed a lot but I have a steroid cream which does not do much. I had severe psoriasis on my nails for over ten years. It hurt and was very embarrassing. I was treated with everything the dermatologist could throw at me an nothing worked. But, when I stopped taking glucosamine chondroitin my nail problems stopped in three months my nails were perfect! I'm a 45 year old healthy woman with psoriatic nails on my big toes on both feet. I've used steroid drops with minimal improvement. I've taken to soaking them in warm salt water once a week, gently using a nail brush on the nails and keeping them trimmed back where they lift up. I'm hoping that the warm water will help improve circulation; the salt will have a healing soothing effect to the affected skin.
