Nickel

How does Nickel work?

Nickel is an essential nutrient in some chemical processes in the body. Its precise functions in the body are not known.

Are there safety concerns?

Nickel is safe for most adults in amounts up to 1 mg per day. More than 1 mg per day might not be safe.

Do not take nickel if:
  • You have kidney problems.
  • You have ever had a skin rash after contact with items which contain nickel, such as jewelry, coins, stainless steel items, surgical implants, or dental appliances.
