Papaya

How does Papaya work?

The chemicals in papaya might help kill parasites.

Are there safety concerns?

Papaya seems safe for most people when taken in small amounts. It can cause irritation and tears in the throat. Applying papaya to the skin can cause severe irritation and allergic reactions in some people.

Do not take papaya if:
  • You are pregnant or breast-feeding.
  • You are allergic to a chemical called papain.
  • You are allergic to latex.
