Medical Definition of Glossolalia
Glossolalia: Nonsensical sounds that mimic the rhythms and inflections of actual speech. Glossolalia may be seen in deep sleep or in trance states. It is also the scientific term for the trance-induced religious phenomena known as "speaking in tongues."Source: MedTerms™ Medical Dictionary
