Nail trimming and psoriasis

Nail trimming and psoriasis

Keep your nails trimmed to avoid snags and nail injuries, which are common causes of psoriasis flare-ups.

  • Soak your nails before trimming them.
  • Trim your nails short and file the edge smooth to avoid injuring them or scratching yourself. Avoid excessive cleaning under the nail, because it may promote psoriasis scale buildup.
  • Don't cut, tear, or bite the skin around your nails (cuticles).
  • Use colorless nail polish to protect your nails.
