FistulaA fistula is an abnormal connection or opening between two organs or parts of the body that are not normally connected, such as between two parts of the intestine. A fistula may be present at birth or may develop as a complication of an infection or a disease, such as Crohn's disease. A fistula may close on its own or may require surgery to repair it.
