Your surgeon and gynecologic oncologist will explain the possible side effects of your surgery. Most surgical treatments for cervical cancer include removing the uterus and cervix (total hysterectomy). Having a hysterectomy means you will no longer be able to become pregnant. Surgery to the lower abdomen may cause difficulty with urination or bowel problems, such as constipation or diarrhea. Your ability to have or enjoy sexual intercourse may also be affected. Credits
