Definition of Reinstein syndromeReinstein syndrome: A heritable syndrome characterized by eye disease (specifically, macular degeneration and inverse retinitis pigmentosa), progressive hearing loss, and hypogonadism. Inverse retinitis pigmentosa differs from the common form of retinitis pigmentosa in the absence of night blindness, early loss of central vision, and preference for dim illumination.
