Definition of In-the-ear hearing aid

In-the-ear hearing aid: A hearing instrument in a custom-made shell designed to fit in the outer ear and ear canal. An in-the-ear (ITE) aid may be suitable for mild to moderately severe hearing loss but not for infants or young children. See also: Hearing aid.
