Definition of Granny camGranny cam: A camcorder (a video camera and video recorder in one unit) that displays a live feed of elderly people, as in a nursing home, to keep an eye on them and the care they receive. The issue of the granny cams has a matter for debate between the nursing home industry, which opposes them as an invasion of privacy, and advocates who favor such surveillance as a means of discouraging elder abuse. Also known as a granny-cam or grannycam. Source: MedTerms™ Medical Dictionaryhttp://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=38628 Last Editorial Review: 6/14/2012
