Definition of Rehydrate

Rehydrate: To restore lost water to the body tissues and fluids. Prompt rehydration is imperative whenever dehydration occurs, from diarrhea, exposure, lack of drinking water, or medication use. Rehydration can be by oral or IV administration of fluids.
