Definition of Neonatal sepsisNeonatal sepsis: A bacterial infection of the blood in a neonate, an infant younger than 4 weeks of age. Babies with sepsis may be listless, overly sleepy, floppy, weak, and very pale. Neonatal sepsis is life-threatening.
