Definition of Chromosome, acrocentric
Chromosome, acrocentric: A chromosome that has its centromere located near one end of the chromosome. Humans have five pairs of acrocentric chromosomes. Down syndrome is due to an extra acrocentric chromosome (chromosome 21).Source: MedTerms™ Medical Dictionary
