I was preparing for my cholesteatoma surgery (general anesthetic) and the preparations include taking blood samples. After the results were out, I was told that I had to delay my surgery because I needed to reduce my heartbeat before performing any surgeries. When I was told that I have hyperthyroidism, it didn't really sink in until my doctor told me that those symptoms I was experiencing was due to hyperthyroidism. These are my symptoms: fatigue (I was always tired and sleepy), dry skin (I thought it was because I shave my legs, but it wasn't), muscle and joint pains (especially around my shoulders and thighs), loose stools, weight gain, thinning hair, high heart rate and thus high blood pressure, heat intolerance (my body gets very warm especially during night time), shorter menstrual period (2 to 3 days), and mood swings..

I had suffered with tremors, night sweats, anxiety and almost all other symptoms for about a year and thought it was stress related. I finally had trouble breathing and a very large lump on my throat that scared me enough to send me to hospital. I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and most of my symptoms have been relieved. However, I still have a large uncomfortable lump on my neck, and it is starting to affect what I can eat..
