I had hiccups for about 24 hours. This interrupted my sleep and became an annoyance. The hiccups remained all the following day. On the second night I decided to try another approach. I poured a cup, made up of 2 ounces of rum and 1 ounce of water. I gargled with this mixture, swallowing each time, the rum/water mix. Hiccups ended, did not return, and I got some much needed sleep. A day later no hiccups!.
