WARNING: Iron injection products have caused severe (sometimes fatal) allergic reactions. USES: Sodium ferric gluconate is used to treat iron deficiency (low iron) in long-term/chronic dialysis patients who are also receiving medication to increase red blood cells (erythropoietin). Iron is an essential mineral used in red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body. It is also necessary for metabolism and other chemical functions of the body (e.g., enzyme production, DNA synthesis).

HOW TO USE: Follow all instructions for proper mixing and dilution with the correct IV fluids. If you have questions regarding the use of this medication, consult your pharmacist.
