When I'm really stressed I usually feel like there are 100 other things wrong with me. My chest hurts, it's hard to breathe, my shoulders and neck hurt. I also wake up sometimes when I've just fallen asleep to my heart pounding so hard I feel like I'm having a heart attack. I'm always suprised at what a big physical toll stress can take on your body. It's scary. Exercise is the only thing that really makes me feel better. I don't think I have the energy, but I push myself and find that I feel so much better after.

I suffer from irregular heartbeat, but not often. The doctors can't ever seem to catch it in action and therefore nothing has ever been done about it. Recently, I have been under a lot of stress and I have been suffering from flutters that are lasting hours at a time. When they are not full blown, I can still feel my heart beating really heard and my nerves feel jumpy all the time. I'm shaking and can't keep still and have a constant sinking feeling in my stomach. I am thinking that the stress is causing this. I'm getting worried. It even happens in my sleep.

When I get stressed, my legs and arms become very tired. I get a very nervous feeling in my stomach and I feel very shaky in the arms. I also feel that I have very little energy when this happens.

Stress

Life and Death in Context

There is an appointed time for everything, and there is a time for every event.

Whatever our beliefs may or may not be as to a specific "appointed time," each of us knows the inherent truth of the well-known Bible verse. One day, death comes to us and to everyone we love.

Mere knowledge of this inevitability does not lessen our suffering. Poet Maya Angelou wrote, "I answer the heroic question, 'Death, where is thy sting?' with 'It is here in my heart and mind and memories'"—a reflection that death takes from us the physical presence of people who are precious, with effects that often bring piercing pain and indescribable depression.

Although the walk through the valley of the shadow of death is the toughest part of life for the human spirit to endure, most of us move beyond the shadows and once again enjoy the sunlight. Let us gather insight into some of the feelings and experiences you may have in your walk through t...
