Hi, I had a vasectomy done in 2006 and I was what they call one of 1/2000 cases for an incidence of congenital absence of the vas. So the smart surgeon thought to go further when he did not find the vas on my left side and decided to give me more sedation and to open up the incision and delivered the entire testicle outside of the incision but the stubborn surgeon did not find any vas, so he replace the testicle and closed me with 3-0 vicryl and 4-0 monocryl (what ever it means). When the operation was done I was in so much pain that I needed someone to give me something to forget about the pain. Now the real reason I am writing to you is that I had discomfort in my scrotum since. The pain comes and goes with time. My pain is more present when I do exercise especially. Now it is 2011 and went to a physician again a new one, but to my surprise the old physician, who made my vasectomy moved in is the office a month before meeting with the new one. I thought hum, interesting. So the new physician though to put a finger in my rectum and said. You may have an inflammation of the scrotum and need to take "SEPTRA DS" for one month. Oh I forgot to say that I had ultrasound done but they did not find anything.

This is my first time writing, but third to fourth time with discomfort, and second time with swelling of the left testicle. The last time I went in to the E.R. and they told me I had an infection in the tubes that carry semen. Funny thing about that, I had a vasectomy, how can I get an infection? I was given the antibiotics Doxycycline. It went away (thank God) Now, it has all come back, pain in the pelvic region, swelling of the left testicle.

I was diagnosed with epididymitis about 15 years ago and after several high dose courses of antibiotics and no permanent cure. My urologist prescribed cephalexin (liquid antibiotic) as I have trouble swallowing pills. I take 250mg twice a day and double if I have flare-ups! I find this condition puts me off sexual intercourse for obvious reasons.

I am a 53 year old male that underwent major back surgery of my L-5/S1 anterior disc replacement with instrumentation for bone growth. Right after surgery I noticed my left testicle swelled to five times its normal size! I was put on 4 different antibiotics for 4 months with ultrasounds, CT scans and MRIs! My left testicle has returned to normal size, but the pain is excruciating and the doctors including my urologist can't tell me what's causing this terrible pain much less a cause and fix! By the way my back surgery was done through the abdomen and the pain is so great I can't understand why something has not been done to fix the problem, or can't find the problem! Suffering in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

I had pain in the groin and upper scrotum. I had it for five weeks and the doctor said it was epididymitis. The doctor gave me Levaquin which didn't do anything.

For 12 days now, my left testicle is swollen four times larger than normal. I'm taking doxycycline 100mg twice daily and pain meds. I had ultrasound, which revealed a bad bacterial infection.

Drove from Illinois to Houston, and got up the next day had a cup of coffee. When I went for the second cup, I had pain in my left testicle. Within thirty minutes was extremely painful, went to ER in Houston. Doctors ended up giving me antibiotics and painkillers.

I have been having pain in both testes for 6 months. I have taken antibiotics taken for 45 days and they have not helped. The scan shows epididymitis (with lumps at head and tail) but so far no cure is suggested.

About 8 months ago I was diagnosed with chronic epididymitis. So far none of the drugs that the doctor has prescribed has worked. One of the ultrasounds I recently had, showed that my prostate was enlarged. Last week I had what I think is called a cystoscopy (a camera up my urethra). The urologist found that I have a narrowing of the urethra; and as a result I will be going in for a procedure in approximately 6 weeks from now and I understand I may need a catheter for a few days after. I am going to make another appointment with my urologist, but I thought it might be helpful to get other feedback so I will know what to ask my urologist.
