It was a very difficult time. My child was very young when she had Tetralogy of Fallot. From birth till age 2 years old, she was hospitalized most of her life, due to not breathing properly. But I will say she lived normally, not like doctors expected. She did everything early, like potty training at 9 months, she walked at 8 months, and she was so wise and talked very clear at about 12 months, very independent, no fainting or things like that. Just when she would get congested I, her mother, knew to get her help. The doctors said she wouldn't see 2 or live too much past that age, she died at age 2 years and 4 months.

My son is now 37, surgery for tetralogy of Fallot was at age 3. He participated in sports until he was about 17, till doctors told us he could not do. Now he still plays golf and hunts like many middle aged men. He and his wife recently told us of a grandson on the way. The baby will have the same defect and we hope for the same success.
