Shellfish Poisoning Paralysis Treatment

  • Vomiting should be induced if the person is awake and alert and has eaten the contaminated shellfish within the last 3 hours.

  • In case of vomiting, the person should be turned on his or her side to prevent the person from inadvertently breathing in any stomach contents (vomit).

  • The person may become paralyzed.

  • Artificial respiration may keep the person alive until they arrive at a hospital's emergency department.
