I’m 14 and flat-chested. All my friends are developing faster than me, and it really bothers me. I heard that birth control pills make your boobs grow. Can the pill make your breasts bigger?

Doctor's Response

Birth control pills contain the female hormones estrogen and/or progesterone. Side effects of these hormones can cause breast enlargement due to fluid retention (edema) in the breast tissue. Breasts may also become tender or sore. This side effect is usually temporary and breast size should return to normal once the body adjusts to the medication, typically within 2 to 3 months.
