When struggling with the hiccups, get a cup of water and drink 8 drinks in a row without stopping. This works for me every single time!

To get rid of hiccups, place a glass (or cup) on your face covering your top lip to chin and breathe heavily through your mouth for about 3 minutes (catching spit and drool in cup). Drink water or milk (if associated with heartburn) and repeat.

Since childhood I have been into natural things. Most important was to avoid having carbonated drinks and definitely not drinking any alcohols, nor cigarettes, etc., and eating lots of genuine and natural fruits. Last night about 1 hour after dinner, I suddenly got hiccups while I was sitting on my chair. No idea what created or caused the hiccups. After about 30 minutes of hiccups, I lay down on my bed and did some Yoga type breathing (pulled my stomach inside and outside) just for 1 minute. Then immediately the hiccups stopped and I could go to sleep properly. Now today too there has been no hiccups.

Taking 10 ml of vinegar works well for hiccups.

It all started when I was eating dry rusk during summer. I tried every trick, suggested by relatives but only with temporary result. The hiccups troubled me for two weeks. It gave way when I was drowsy due to lack of sleep and when I was strained due to brisk walking. I approached two physicians who diagnosed it as the result of gastritis. But the medicine they prescribed did not help me. One of my relatives told me to practice yoga mudra to tame hyperactive vagus nerve. Another doctor relative suggested an antibiotic Metrogyl tablet, for five days. I tried both at the same time. At last! My hiccup vanished in two days. Never returned again.

My stepmom taught me that drinking 9 sips of water, then a large gulp of water cures hiccups, you don't have to hold your breath for this. Works for me, but just now so did holding my breath for 15 seconds.

I learned from my grandmother how to get rid of my hiccups 40 years ago and I am still using it. Get one glass of water in your right hand. Your left hand stretching up us much you can to the ceiling. Drink 9 sips of water with your right hand without breathing. This helped me, maybe will help you to. Try it!

I took a yoga class 35 years ago, and the only thing I took from it was the guaranteed ability to get rid of hiccups. If you sit still, and focus on relaxing your entire body, starting with the crown of the head and ending with the balls of the feet, while breathing as steadily and deeply as possible, your diaphragm will relax. My hiccups are usually gone before I reach the legs.

I had hiccups for two days and I used a bicarbonate of soda by licking it. Also holding the breath helps.

To get rid of my hiccups I hold my breath and count to 10. Just before I let my breath out I swallow. Do this 3 times in a row. Works every time. I had hiccups for almost the whole day and I read the above remedy. I followed the steps to the dot and sure enough my hiccups disappeared.

To get rid of hiccups, I lean against something, curled up, with all my weight on my toes, and hold my breath with maple or brown sugar under my tongue.

Almost every cure has something to do with breath. So, for that last 45 years I would take a deep breath and while holding it swallow air until I feel my lungs expanding and 'start to hurt' then release the air and breath normally, it seems to work 99% of the time.

Hold your breath. It works every time for me!

Take a deep breath and hold it while extending your diaphragm (stomach) out slowly and then pulling diaphragm back in slowly for 5 to 10 times. Do not let breath out during this time. Usually works the first time. Repeat if necessary.
