Alzheimer's disease is a progressive brain disorder that results in the loss of memory, thinking skills, personality changes, and eventually the ability to carry out everyday tasks. A person who has Alzheimer's disease may become disoriented, suffer from delusions, and become aggressive. Later stages of the illness may be associated with the loss of bowel and bladder control. Sleep difficulties are common in those who have Alzheimer's disease. People diagnosed with the condition may live for up to 20 years after diagnosis.
