Vascular malformations are groupings of abnormal blood and lymph vessels that are usually present at birth. Different types of malformations may be comprised of different types of vessels including capillaries, arteries, veins, or lymph vessels. Cystic hygroma is a type of lymphatic malformation. A port-wine stain is a type of capillary malformation. The photo depicts the foot of a patient who has a venous malformation.
