I had a problem with ingrown toenails most of my adult life. When I told my family doctor about the problem he took care of it right away. He gave me some shots to numb my big toe, and then used a laser on the part of the toe that produces the nail. He explained that this kills that part of the nail production and stops the ingrown nails by not allowing them to be produced. So looking at my bug toes, about 1/8th of an inch of toenail is no longer produced on the inside edge. No ingrown toenail ever since. I followed up with the second big toe a few weeks after I did the first one. What a relief. It has been over 5 years now and I still have my nails but no further problems.

I had ingrown toe nail surgery 7 weeks ago. My toe is so painful I haven't been able to wear a shoe since. The top of my toe is beet red and blistered. I have soaked, use creams and ointments, gone back to the doctor who cut into it again to see if there was anything foreign. When the stabbing pains hit, it feels like it goes clear to the bone.

I have had ingrown toe nail on my right foot since January 2014 and I have had it operated surgically in the hospital three times but it just keeps reoccurring within two to three months after each surgery. I need help, I don’t know what to do again. Mine is so bad that the nail pierces through my skin at the edge and the skin (flesh) in turn grows on top of the nail thereby keeping an open wound and bringing out fluids all the time, either pus, water, or blood.

I was in a nail shop to get my toe nails clipped. The lady told me I had an ingrown toe nail and she could cure it with a pedicure.

I've been to the hospital to remove the ingrown toenail but the problem is still there. I don’t know what to do anymore.
