Merkle cell carcinoma: A rapidly growing type of skin cancer, spelled Merkel cell carcinoma, after the German anatomist and pathologist Friedrich Sigmund Merkel (1845-1919) It is a rare, aggressive malignant cancer of the skin that primarily affects elderly Caucasians.
