I had a cinder block fall on my big toe and it completely pulled the toenail out, detaching the entire bed out of the toe. The doctor told me to clip the sides of the cuticle to allow it to fall on its own, once healed. It hurt, but I did it while I was still numb. I had to take a tetanus shot because I couldn't remember how long my last shot had been. The doctor cleaned the toe, put antibiotic cream, and bandaged it with gauze. No walking or getting it wet for 3 days. I used Amish pomade after.

My big toenail was surgically removed, cleaned and replaced. It was held in place with stitches. Wonder if anyone else had this procedure.
